First Visit
The First Appointment
As Per American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) guidelines, a child’s first visit to the pediatric dentist should be by his/her 1st birthday.
At the first appointment, we concentrate on acquainting your child with our office and the equipment. Dental visits can actually be fun and productive if handled properly. We provide a thorough examination of the teeth, the soft tissue, alignment bite, and more. X-rays are not taken routinely but may be necessary at certain points to check for decay and to guide the child’s oral growth and development. A cleaning and topical fluoride treatment are given and oral hygiene is emphasized and taught.
If your child has previously been to a dentist, please have all records forwarded to our office prior to the first visit. At the conclusion of this visit, Dr. Patel will speak with you about your child’s oral health and what steps you need to perform at home to guarantee a healthy mouth for your child. Our main purpose is to provide a warm and comfortable environment for your child so we can work together toward excellent oral health.
The Recall Visit
After completing any restorative dentistry necessary, you will receive periodic notices for your child’s preventative check-up. These appointments, spaced six months apart, are de-signed to prevent little problems from becoming big or expensive ones. The best dentistry is Preventative Dentistry, but it is too easily postponed or overlooked. Don’t miss these check-ups! We will make every effort to notify you. Please call us if you think your child may be overdue for this important service, and we will verify it for you.
